So you wake up tomorrow and you're the last person on Earth...

..what would you do?

No bodies, no explanation, nothing. Everyone else is just gone.

What would you do the first week, month, year.. 5 years.. 10 years.. would you make it 20 years? Would you kill yourself? Would there be a point?

What would you do if 50 years went by, assuming you'd make it that long.. no contact.. what would you do?

I'd do like a plant, and hunt for a female to reproduce with; because plants realize that the bigger picture is more important than the individual.

It's funny you bring this up, Pad. I've thought about this ever since I saw an original Twilight Zone episode where this exact thing happens to a dude: it finally drives him nuts and he jumps off a tall building... only to hear a phone ring on the way down :) For me, it wouldn't be ideal, but I would be just fine. Most of my goals and interests don't involve other people, and I spend the lion's share of my energy avoiding others. I love when I'm the only one in a park, a store, a restaurant, on the road, etc.. I'd read thousands of books, listen to and play music, hike, bike and exercise, move into the nicest estate I could find, even travel around to see all the places I could. It would suck to have to do EVERYTHING myself, but I think I'd find it preferable to the world as it is now...

Would there be animals left in this scenario? I think that would make a difference.

That sounds practical, but what about the end of it all? When you die, that's it, the entire human race is gone. Do you think that would have any kind of effect on you at all?

Also, yes, animals still exist, only thing different is all humans are gone

Well, you need to find food and water and shelter.
Hard to say Pada.
Is there anything left from the past?

Reminds me of The Omega Man.
Zombies would fuck with him if he stayed outside too late.
Good movie.

Yep, everything is exactly the same as it was today, minus humans

It's an interesting thought experiment because I couldn't actually know that there's no humans left, I'd only know that I don't run across any. But if I just magically knew I was the last one, it would be depressing but what could I do? I guess I could start fucking some animals, but that would be more for amusement than from an actual hope that we may possibly produce offspring...

The short story, "I am Legend" and "Omega man" are basically what the film I am Legend came from. I liked the short story better than the modern film, was interesting how Matheson flipped the norm being humans to the norm being vampires.

I would get all the gasoline i could. I don't know enough to keep electricity going in a house, where it comes from and how the factories work, let alone do maintenance on them. I do know gasoline generators. Although i think it takes years for gasoline to go bad, at least i could live with electricity for 5-15 years, which would make life enjoyable. Eventually the internet would go down, so i would need to live close to a gigantic library. I would need to get weapons and tools for hunting, learn how to preserve food, gather canned food and food that takes a very, very long time to expire. I would need porn, and porn magazines (for when i can't get electricity anymore).

I think the first thing i would do, is download and use simulators to learn how to fly a plane, so i could fly a plane 20,000ft and jump out of it with a parachute... learn to surf, to rock climb, all as soon as possible before i get too old to enjoy those things. Grow a field of cannabis. Find a dog, so i can have a companion so i don't feel so alone.

It would be sweet in some sense, but i think eventually electricity would run out, i would get too old, and i wouldn't want to live anymore. But the first 10-20 years i think would be AWESOME. Other than the fact of missing my family and friends.

I would definitely hit a bowl and relax because I'd be freaking the fudge out!

Umm, I would gather my emotions together, actually look for others out of curiosity.

I would learn how to crop, find a nice spot for all of that work. Find a nice estate for my living, use gas generators for about 20 years before the gasoline actually goes bad and doesn't operate properly anymore. After that, knowing I truly lived for that amount of years alone, fully achieving whatevers left to achieve. Ill happily take my life, because I think life was intended to be populated, not fully isolated. I would need a human sometime, I would go insane. I would not want to fully see myself transition into a mad person, talking to myself and sht. After that gasoline goes bad, Ill just say my peace. And hit a bowl ofcourse bongsmilie
