  • oh wow haha that must be nice marin county is $$. And i apologize not many women on this site. down here in socal cooking its so hot out i cant wait to get back home to the bay area after my semestmer.

I take it your a avid grower? hows it goin up there. I herd about that gas line explosion crazy stuff
Kind of far, I'm on the West Bay on the other side of the Golden Gate from SF
    and I'm a woman :) howzit goin?
The dirtiest plants I've seen were in indoor gardens. That said, this was due to owner error. Bathing(the plants, not the grower) is important when growing Cannabis. The plants love being clean. Avoid strong streams of water, but rinse the leaves until they drip, about once a week. Clear water. Indoor plants often appear shiny, like a field worker who hasn't bathed in a week.

I do this outdoors at least once a week, until harvest, taking care to do it in the morning, late in budding to prevent mold.

Truthfully, I suspect most commercial indoor growers would prefer to not rinse the plants because this costs them a little weight. Sometimes I'm pretty cynical. I've seen people pull some underhanded stuff in the name of money.

Too many younger pot heads associate a coughing fit with quality. They like the rush offered by hyperventilation. Dirt seems to amplify that quality. I'm mystified by this.

Honestly I just use kellogs potting soil from lowes. 7 dollars a bag. Has just about the same thing as fox farms, but I can get like 3 bags compared to 1. strain wise I love kushes!! Ogs and bubhhas are my favorite. Can't go wrong with them. Currently I'm growing 2 hybrids I call miss mayhem, and 3 sativa Jack herrers. Wanted to try something new. More fruity tasting then the kushes. My next grow will be indoor and I'm going with attitude seed banks dj shorts venilium. Taste like a mixture of honey with vanilla.
Haha, no very far from a master! like to think I know a thing or two though! thanks a lot man!
gud as it can get out door. i do mostly indoor because my indoor crops are so large i cant afford for my out door plants to cause attention
Yo man Im using foxfarm ocean forest soil, no nutes except international house of guano. Pot sizes are 3 gallons. kinda smaller than I wanted but its whatever.
hey man whats up, two feet by three feet is more than enough for your plants to thrive in, I have been planting in the ground for years, I also like to go with containers for my ganj amd usually they are only one and a half feet deep anyways maybe 2 feet across I get nice compact yields barely no problems ever. hope this helps and thanks for asking for my opinion :)
Well i am a first time grower lol so i know the basics i would like to think. I saw the one you posted about flowering nutes i think in that one guys thread in the out door section

Let me run my game plan for this coming years grow. i am in socal and lots of dessert and heat and dry weather but tons of sun.

I am cureently digging 3X3 holes in a back yard going to try to make ten of them. I been doing lots of reading and it looks like fox farms and black gold is the way to go.

And then maybe mix it with this guys recipe? What do you think

They are actually in a raised bed,on top of native soil.Look at my first post. You can see the back board of the bed.I built it up 18",and the whole bed is 27' long. There are 5 plants in that bed.The soil is a local dirt suppliers tomatoe mix, mixed with promix.I amended the native soil with worm castings, bone meal, blood meal, and some fish&seaweed compost.
Thx bro! I've def thrown some hard time into perfecting what I'm doing, and while there's always much that can be learned, I'm very pleased with the quality results I get from my equipment, nutrients, and overall grow methods. Which of my threads did you read?

What kind of experience are you workin with?
no. I didn't recommend you use any of those soils. I recommend you research the qualities and characteristics of the local soil you already have to work with, and I suggest you wait to dig your holes. I would suggest you till in ammendments towards the end of winter, and dig your holes and add your soil mixes or whatever in the beginning of May, and planting your plants at the End of May.
FDD is right. Start your own outdoor journal to ask for input, and I am sure people will do their best to help you.
my plants roots are deep and narrow. i have rings around my plants so i only water within a 2 and half foot radius. i till at least 20 inches deep. often more. roots will grow wherever they can. the softer the soil the better they grow. whether it's down or out. the deeper AND wider the better. ;)
I tend to disagree with going much deeper than a foot. I prefer to go wide rather than deep. A five foot wide hole one foot deep seems more productive than a hole, 3 x 3 feet. Cannabis roots like to spread, so if you do go deep, leave the hole's edges ragged, like a star shape, to encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil. If you want the roots to spread, you need to water a wide area to attract them. Potting soil is expensive. A 15 cubic foot hole will use ten bags. You can stretch that by mixing 20% to 50% native soil with the potting mix. In your boots, that's what I'd do.
