Canadian Stuff

Never would have believed that there would be any hate going Gretzkys way from Canadians. There was a petition going around to "remove" his name from the street," Wayne Gretzky Drive" in Edmonton! :cuss:
I believe Gretzky disrespected all Canadians when he gave the USA team the thumbs up (twice) and didn't wear our jersey (like the USA honorary captain did).

They re-named the "Capilano Drive" to the "Wayne Gretzky Drive" which leads to the old Northlands Coliseum where the Oilers played.

The coliseum is going to be demolished, so we might as change to name back to Capilano and find a new place to name in Gretzky's honor, such as the nearby "Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant".

I'm just hoping that our businesses and universities are taking advantage of all the intelligent, educated people being turned away or run out of the US for the heinous crime of not being white/straight/MAGA. We should be welcoming these people with open arms.

There are a lot of opportunities for our country now the US is crumbling. As long as we stay strong and united AND don't lose our basic decency, Canada's future out of the shadow of the US could be a bright one.

Elbows up and powder dry.

I strongly disagree with the last paragraph above and I think many of us do. A friendship betrayed is a forever thing. Trust, once broken, cannot be reforged. It doesn't matter whether you actively enabled the fascists or just passively allowed your country and constitution to be pissed on, you will never again be my friend.

The USA has shown it cannot be trusted. I don't know about my brethren, but from now until I die, a wary peace is the furthest I will ever go. I will always watch my back and be prepared to defend me and mine.

Americans have this ludicrous thing where they take no responsibility for the actions of their country when the other party is in power, but they are going to learn that the rest of us don't see it that way. I'm so sick of the "sorry for what the orange guy is doing to you, please don't hate me. " posts all over the internet from cowards. Unless you are actively opposing them, you are no better then them.

I don't blame you for feeling that way. Actions speak louder than words and lately our words are full of shit and our actions are self explanatory.

It's tough, dark money controls the media. I personally have been censored a few times.

Russia has been playing the long game and now they have all their pieces in place. From the supreme court to the presidency with stops in the Senate and Congress not to mention God knows how many local yokels they control. FBI ditto. Overwhelming chaos is one of their tools. Funny how pretty much everything that trump does is bad for ourselves and our allies and good for Putin. Pure chance? You'd have to be an idiot to believe that. Or a Trumper. Once again chaos reigns.

In a couple of years I'll bet most of our military secrets start surfacing in enemy hands. Expect to see improved weapons that look a lot like ours.

FFS.

New Democratic Party's leader said.

Charlie Angus is NOT the leader of the NDP. You'd think the Times of India would know that Jagmeet Singh, a man of Indian descent, leads the New Democrats. I'm thinking this is just more AI garbage.

Here the video interview. Charlie takes questions at the end and talks about how the orange turd stopped endorsing PP to try and boost his numbers. No one is falling for it.

I wasn't saying he didn't say it, just calling out that particular source for piss-poor editing and fact checking.

It's striking to me, the difference in coverage and understanding of the importance of this issue, between Canadians and Americans. I've watched a few videos by a guy called Tyler Bucket, a Yank who watches Canadian stuff, and he seems amazed that Canadians are almost like real human beings(IE Americans) in that we get pissed off and fight back when threatened.

American exceptionalism cannot be overestimated. Their arrogance and utter conviction in their own superiority in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary makes most of them impossible to reason with. I'm just glad I'm far from the border, and I hope most of the damage inflicted by the US government is to the US people who empowered it.

Elbows up and powder dry!
