Lens and Reflector Optics for COB

Argh, Jerry doesn't want to send just two with "cheap" shipping? No-one in Europe has two of the 80 deg lenses and wants to sell them? :)

Is anyone growing HOT PEPPERS with CXB3590? Recommended Color Temp?

Correction, when they talk about 5000-6000K, they're often talking about fluoros. On the other hand, it's "funny" that I even ask since I can see the result of growing with 3500K right there with mine. They are definitely not "spindly", but they are VERY tall. But then I am growing in Hempy...

Is anyone growing HOT PEPPERS with CXB3590? Recommended Color Temp?

When I read on hot pepper forums I constantly read about how some recommend using very cold LEDs, like 5000K if not 6000K. I am currently growing with CXB3590s, the "standard" 3500K, 36V, CD bin like most do. (And NO I have not the slightest complaint, my plants and "medical plants" grow like...

Lens and Reflector Optics for COB

Where can I get the Kingbrite 80 deg glass lenses or equivalent IN EUROPE? I am expanding my light and have already all the parts, but I need two more lenses. Would Jerry sell 2x lenses only and do "cheap" shipping? So far I ONLY know of Kingbrite and Cutter (90 deg instead of 80 deg) lenses...

How To Kill and Keep Off (Almost) ALL Common MJ Pests, Easily.

I use a simple measuring cup, the first thing is I put-in and stir the soap, and then I use a dropper to add the Neem. Neem always as last since you want to mix it into the soapy emulsion. By the way warm water works best! I am actually having "decent" results now also using plain tap water...so...

    Thermal Grease Application Method

Well, the purpose of thermal paste is to fill "invisible" gaps, almost on molecule level so that a heatsink and a component make the best and "closest" connection, aka "use as little thermal paste as even possible". Any too much TP is still more insulating (and then would lead to more heat)...

I can run 6x CXB3590s on a MW 240-1750 at low amps, right?

Yes I am aware of this potential "risk" with parallel wiring. On the plus side, if I were to make such a 2x3 fixture, each COB would run with a very low 875mA, 31,5W which would not cause any heat worth mentioning, I see this with mine when I run them at 875mA, the heatsink stays literally cool...

I can run 6x CXB3590s on a MW 240-1750 at low amps, right?

Ah....didn't consider that. So...I can do 2x light bars (parallel) with 3x COBs in series each?? Woo..that would make the build even easier looking at it...

I can run 6x CXB3590s on a MW 240-1750 at low amps, right?

I can dim my driver from 875-1750mA. My current light bar with 4x CREE at max power (1750mA X 36V) = 252W total, I know this works. So I am taking the 252W as maximum the driver can handle, with 6 COBs that means I should be able to comfortably run 6 at 40-42W each, so I'd adjust the driver at...

What wattage do the drivers (and fans) draw by itself?

I calculated roughly 1W per fan for my fans which are Arctic F12, based on [email protected] (see their specs). Then there is the Meanwell LED driver, say some typical driver like the 1400mA or the 1750mA drivers, and the 12V MW driver for the fans. Just wanting to know when I measure the TOTAL...

    DIY COB LED Calculator

Here some ideas what I would code if I wasn't that lazy: 1) Enter your grow room dimensions eg. 1.20 x 0.86 2) Enter desired PPFD (eg. MJ vegging/flowering up to 1000PFD, hot peppers 400PPFD etc.) Calc spits out at what amperage you will need to drive your x number of COBs.

    DIY COB LED Calculator

Hello! Wonderful!!! I wanted to make a calc for the longest, just too lazy to code something. I am wondering why you don't support more amperages, at least for the CXB3590 3500K CD there is a table on the web that works beautifully. With your calc I am (sadly) very limited and can hardly ever...

    Lumens, PPFD calculations

I know the PPFD formula which is Input power [W] x efficiency [dimensionless quantity] = radiant power [W] luminous flux [lm] / LER (luminous efficiency of radiation) [lm/W] = radiant power [W] radiant power [w] x QER (quantum efficiency of radiation) [µmol/J] = photon flux [µmol/s] photon flux...

Is anyone growing (veg) on "12/1" cycle? (Method to save electricity)

I came across some curious posts from a few years ago where someone introduced a "12/1" light cycle for vegging. Basically, the cycle is 12 hours light ON, 5.5hrs OFF, 1hr ON, 5.5hrs OFF == 13 hours light, as opposed to 18 hrs of light as with 18/6 == 5 hours less light needed per 24hrs cycle...

    Changing (Lowering) Light Intensity

I am vegging currently with 4x CREE CXB 3590, in Hempie buckets. I did some calculations (I will be flowering outdoors!) that I need to wait until June 1st to put them outside, otherwise they would re-veg. "Problem": The plants grow at an insane speed and I I have to look that I somehow can...

    World Of Hempy

Something essential and important said in Wattsaver's Soilponic post, something which you cannot find in any "official" Hempy guide out there. That the size/volume of the bucket and therefore the internal reservoir is *very important*: "Well you need a rez that is small enough to be used up in...

    World Of Hempy

How often do you guys water? I have Hempies with external/outer containers (slightly bigger than the actual pot) and I noticed over-watering problems (N deficiency) when the water in the trays stands for 2-3 days. I probably watered them way too often, the runoff basically flowing in the...

    CXB3590 DIY Build and Grow

Holy crap I started to load this image on Easter Monday, it's still loading... :) But seriously, kickass, that 4x bar looks like mine with the lenses!! Yes they're so bright if you wipe them with a tissue etc..you have to close your eyes...or turn them off :)

    Any problems using HLG-240h-C1750 to run 4 CXB3590's @ 36v?

Coming back to this thread...my experience with my 3590s and the 1750mA driver is that it was a little overkill and a 1400mA driver would likely have served me (almost as) well. "Overkill" because back then we I had the light built some months ago the HLG 240W 1750mA driver was rare and barely...

    World Of Hempy

Well my totes there are sort of a middle between Hempie and a system with a tank...I figured I really want to SEE my water/nutes. Besides it enables me to use "normal" pots with holes in the bottom. (I am actually using some sort of air pots right now). I think key here is that the outside...
