It looks fine to me, what’s your humidity? The outer edge of the soil looks a bit dry. Roots won’t grow in dry soil so make sure when you water you get the whole pot even if your plant is small and then let it completely dry out before watering again. Some plants start slow

It looks like it was in the early stages of bud rot which may not have the severe symptoms as you describe. Because the buds are dense it’s more susceptible to bud rot
