trying to help a new grower

It takes about 75-100 watts per sq. ft. of canapy space. So they're cheaper to buy, but more expensive to run.

Why poke the bear? We're already winning on the basis of it's being a matter of "State's Righrs".

Why not plant cuttings right into soil?

That sounds a bit extreem - I can't really answer that! My experience (and all the literature I've read) says low light for about 2 weeks. Something like a single CFL from a foot, or so, away.

CAN YOU ANSWER THIS SOIL QUESTION?

You may only be adding 1/2 strength nutrients - BUT - - -. FF Ocean Forest is already full of nutes. You can grow all the way through veg without adding any additional nutes. Hell, you could probably up-pot just before flowering and do an entire grow without adding any nutes. That's...

Why not plant cuttings right into soil?

"Well, see, there's your problem", (A little "Mythbusters" humor!). Fresh cuttings don't want "bright light", that makes them try to photosynthesize before they have developed a root system. That's like a person being put to hard labor in a concentration camp without being fed anything - they...

CAN YOU ANSWER THIS SOIL QUESTION?

Like I said, it can be quite a balancing act; especially when it's done "after the fact" as a catch-up move. Ideally you should have mixed 1 or 2 Tblsp. of "Dolomite Lime" per gallon of soil (assuming the soil has no lime added already). I would guess about 2 Tblsp. of Dolomite per gallon of...

    does super thrive work?

Super Thrive is not a nutrient or fertilizer - where do people keep getting this idea? Super Thrive has B1 vitamins and other things that make it useful around seed germination time and cloning time. Other than that, it is said to have some re-vigoration ability for ailing plants. I used to...

CAN YOU ANSWER THIS SOIL QUESTION?

Most all nurients (that I know of) tend to be acidic, therefore they lower soil pH. On the other hand, most soils include a dose of Lime to counteract (buffer) the acidic action of the nutes. It can get to be quite a balancing act untill you get the whole pH thing dialed in.

    First time grower.

I've said it before (many times) and I'll say it again "That's just Bullshit!". Noboby has actually had that problem - ever. It's just an old wive's tale that keeps getting passed along. In order for that to be true, a large amount of surface area would have to focus the light onto a very...

Is it neccessary that change my led to high pressure sodium lamp when the plant during flowering.

You don't really need to, but you might find that it could give you a better yield. Try it without changing the lights; if the yield is disappointing, try using HPS lights next time.

    Looking For Best/Cheap Soil?

For "store bought" I would reccomend Kellogg's Patio plus. But for the best and the cheapest I would say to mix your own - there are a million good recipes out there.

    4k watts 7 plants

Dude, 4,000 watts is enough light for, like, 80 sq.ft.! What the hell are you going on about?

    New setup, couple of questions.

The only thing I would do differently is not go right for the biggest pot size right off the bat. My reasoning is all about developing the best root structure I can! Starting in a small pot and "Up-potting" a few times (perhaps 3 or 4) allows a good root ball to form and grow incrementally...

    Controversial Defoliation Increases Marijuana Yields

Okay; maybe, at least to some degree, what we are really talking about here is a matter of semantics. I think it's really about the use of the word "Defoliate". The word itself has come to mean killing and removing huge sections of Rainforest or other "at risk" land. My "Big, Fat" Webster's...
