2000 watts in 5x5 too ambitious?

I was just wondering, how do you do a guerilla grow in a tent, under lights?

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Yea! The KISS Principle is what I had in mind for this project from the very beginning. I just wanted some "educated guesses" on light distribution. Distributing multi lights into a rectilinear space is child's play, but a rotating circle just presents a whole new set of variables! For...

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

When I started this thread, last night, I was worried that nobody was going to respond. I guess it was just a "Left Coast" thing (last night for me was "Zero Dark Thirty" for everybody else). Once the sun came up on the East Coast, the ideas started pouring in. Thanks to everyone! Anyone else?

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

This project is taking on a life of it's own - it's turning into Frankenstien. But seriousely, 12 sq. ft. is plenty enough for little old me!

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Well, the Lazy Susan would be turning really slow (I'm talking about minutes per revolution, not RPM), I can make it go as slow as I want - that shouldn't be a problem. Do plants get dizzy? LOL, I thought about that very same thing.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

I'm with you on this one. I think it's easier to "evenly distribute" the light than it is to make each plant rotate individually.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

That's my "Plan B", except that the center light is just off-set a little bit.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

I know that in Vert growing, you want to drop the light right in the center; with the plants closely surrounding the light. But in this scenario the "center" is about 24" from the perimeter; that's just too far (according to my understanding of "The Inverse Square Law".

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

I've been thinking about this sucker for a long time. It just sounds easier to me to power-up a Lazy Susan than it would be to build a light mover (I would never buy one 'cause I'm too cheap - but that's another story).

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Yes, it's about a 4' circle. That means the light would have to "spread out" 2' just to reach the perimeter. Remember, half the distance means 4 times the light energy (The Inverse Square Law).

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

I'm having trouble with my FlashPlayer, so I couldn't watch that video. What are you showing me - some kind of Light Mover? Yea, I know, slow is better for a light mover. I plan on propeling my "Lazy Susan" with a Bar-B-Que Rottiserie motor hooked to a small "Drive Wheel", operating as a "Rim...

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Yes, I understand the concept. But I don't know what that means. I'm trying to use the photons as efficiently as possible.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

I had one other bright idea, but it is a little more complicated. I hang one light near the center (just off-set a bit) to cover 3 sq.ft. Then divide the remaining 9 sq.ft. into two 4 1/2sq.ft. bands and hang the 3 remaining lights at 120 degrees apart on a 37.09" diameter. I don't really...

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Yea! The Lazy Susan is really the heart of the whole project. It's my version of "The poor man's answer to the Light Mover".

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Thaks for your reply! Yes, the "Lazy Susan" would turn inside a close fitting cylinder or "drum" enclosure, covered with good reflective materiel.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Thanks for your reply! The whole point of my using smaller bulbs is to get the benefit of "multiple points of light". Half the distance equals four times the light energy.

HOW SHOULD I PROJECT LIGHT INTO A ROUND AREA?

Using a single light would be easy - just aim it at the center, right? Let's say we have a 12 sq.ft. circlular grow space with 4 150watt Ceramic Metal Halide bulbs to work with. The more I think about this, the more complicated it becomes! I'm no math whiz, so my thinking here is just, sort...

    whats a perpetual grow

To make a long story short; a Perpetual Grow just means always having something ready in Veg mode, to replace whatever you harvest out of Flower mode. You do this over and over again. That way you just keep on going without any "Downtime". A more sophisticated Perpetual Grow might have 8...
