What's the point of a reservoir? Why can't I just measure nutes every day?

You have no idea how helpful you have been. You answered what I've spent hours trying to get a mental picture of. Thank you again so much.

What's the point of a reservoir? Why can't I just measure nutes every day?

thank you so much! So just to clarify (check username hehe) this is roughly how you role (or failing that, how I could role): 5 gallon bucket daily watering, ie, add water, check ph, mix nutes turn the pump on which is submerged in the bucket water automatically goes through hose, into...

What's the point of a reservoir? Why can't I just measure nutes every day?

Thanks guys. I ended up picking up some 1/2' plastic tubing at walmart and a 160 gph submersive water pump. I was thinking use the tubing as a hose and the water pump just to give the water enough movement to let the hose suck it up. So, handwatering with assistance. Am I missing something or...

What's the point of a reservoir? Why can't I just measure nutes every day?

Thank you. So literally the only point of all that complicated shit: a water pump, a hose, etc. is just to avoid mixing nutes as often? In other words, I don't need to aerate the water and so forth right? Just mix up the nutes in water and feed the girls?

What's the point of a reservoir? Why can't I just measure nutes every day?

I was told that I need to get a fish tank pump, a 50 gallon tub and a garden hose. I was told that I need to premix my chemical nutes (I'm using GH nutes) and that the nutes would last just for two weeks with the fish tank pump on all day every day. I'm only growing 6 plants. Can't I just...

What is the point of an elevated runoff in coco?

Thanks men. That makes total sense. I don't know how to build a sleek platform and was hoping I didn't have to but obviously I should. Thank you.

What is the point of an elevated runoff in coco?

That makes sense. It's a lot of work to put the hoses in and get it drained, but then, zero work. But Tint (gorgeous doggo btw) here is what i don't get...these hundreds if not thousands of guys on this forum who have an elevated platform for the pots, that drip into a 2 gallon bucket. That's...

What is the point of an elevated runoff in coco?

Right I appreciate that. Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I don't understand is why can't you just use saucers outside the pots to catch the runoff? Why this costly, space-restricting set-up I see all over this forum of guys creating a separate platform for the plants with a catch system...

What is the point of an elevated runoff in coco?

Why doesn't everybody just put the smart pots/whatever pots in saucers and wet vac out the excess? Why waste vertical space and time building an elevated platform for the pots with a complicated catch system underneath? Is excess water/nutes really bad in saucers if you let it sit for few hours...

First time grower. 4x4 tent. roi e680: what light intensity, how far away from seedlings

haha. One more question if I may. I'm running coco in 3 gallon smart pots, using GH nutes. Why do some people build elevated platforms w/ 2 gallon buckets for runoff, while others just put the smart pots in saucers? Building a big ass platform, wasting all that vertical space...what's the...

First time grower. 4x4 tent. roi e680: what light intensity, how far away from seedlings

Hey guys. Damn near lost 1k dollars trying to hang the light up on my own lol, but alas success. First two questions pretty much in the title: 1) do I use 40% intensity on the light for seedlings? (settings are 40, 60, 80, full power). 2) How far away from the seedlings should the light be...
