Most times, in a conversation I hear folk never talking to me. They talk to themselves, they talk to their parents, their ex wives, God, some guy they never really knew but wish they had acted differently toward. It's not an indictment, it is just a strange observation, maybe a part if the...

I don't know, I am beginning to suspect that there are actually only ten or twelve stories we tell ourselves and others and just a lot of minor variations. Most of them involve being a victim, some being heroic in the face of victimhood but not having heard ALL stories, I could be wrong.

Thanks, I think. I'm sitting in the cold having a cigar and posting the culmination of thoughts and ideas sourced from 69 years of listening to others and thinking..."wait, that can't be right...can it?"

But there are acceptable ways of dealing with that existential angst and unacceptable ways. I see nothing about the abject addiction to one's cell phone. Harmless diversion? Hardly, phones cause family discord, auto accidents, "loss of productivity" and apparently, coupled with social media...

Still, your insinuation was that neatly all of "them", the poor, the guileless, the weak willed, the immoral, are due some special protection that limits everyone else in its wake. I have a doctor friend, she decided never ever to prescribe opiates ever again. Forget about their back pain...

The quiet secret is that government is actually unafraid of traditional firearms in the hands of citizens. The other secret that the cold dead hands crowd believe is that should arms ever be rendered illegal, shock troops will travel door to door searching basements and bedroom closets for...

Ok. A beef from me (again). This sort of comment is akin to "we should never legalize all drugs because people will go wild in the streets" "OK, so if heroin were legal, you would rush right out and buy a bag?" "OH, no, I would never do that, I'm talking about all the other people, you...

Yet you have insinuated that the few of us here that have had experiences with these substances were the rare resistant fortunates. I never said these things were harmless, only that to paint users with the brush of inevitable doom is inaccurate.

I did, national survey on... at the top. And of course, the figures themselves tend to indicate the same. Ours is not a nation packed with 4 million opiate addled street dwellers.

Yeah...stereotype The last meth "addict" I knew was a cancer nurse. The poor woman sold her home and spent all the proceeds on a very long weekend in Las Vegas, handing all her friends $100 bills after putting them all up in suites at the venetian. She then tried and failed to take her life...

You seem to see this oppositely than I. I see those unfortunates who succumb as failures in the art of indulgence. When I see a man with a snifter of brandy, I don't think that he must have narrowly avoided the inevitable descent into spousal abuse and cardboard housing. But it is the same...

Look, I just think it peculiar that a bunch of pot heads are guilty of the same exact stereotypes that everyone else is. Meth users are all toothless lovers (they arent) Opiate users are all either hapless victims of the gheto or moral cripples. Drinkers suck wine from bags...unless they...
