I still use clearex just in case there are any nutrient buildups inside the plants. I have read that with H&G you don't need to flush but I still do and start with the clearex then move to water only.

I use regular tap water and have not had to add anything to the H&G schedule using Aqua Flakes. I have now been using this for around three years and have no plans on switching anytime soon. I switched from Botanicare's lineup to H&G and spend less money and have better results. Good luck...

I used 1"x2" wood to make my frame and legs and I believe the wire/fence/screen I bought was 2"x3" or so. I wouldn't go too small on the screen size as it gets harder to tuck things in later on. Good luck with your setup and let me know how things turn out.
