Here's my rdwc led igloo grow... Used close in reflective foam panels to maximize the light...

I had assumed the OP was referring to hid light... We can piss around and throw cobs in the mix.... I don't have much experience with them... My only led grow was an advanced ss200 185 watt true draw..... I've got a pic of that grow.... Still only got 2 oz per sq. ft. of screen.... 18"x 24"...

Actually, back to the question, can you get 3# from a thousand watts.... I think it's not going to be that difficult, but not with one light.... I finished my first run with 2 new ss315 lec lights.... I came up short of 2# by 6 oz.... That's 2 plants in 2, 24"x 32"screens.... 630 watts...

Put my ss315 on a light rail to see if it would cover a 24"x 48" scrog screen with 3 plants, and still get good results. This is a week after flipping it to 12/12... 39+ watts a square foot.... My previous pics show the light on a 24"x 30" screen, no light mover.... Be back with another pic in...

I feel coco/perlite is cheaper in the long run because it can be refreshed, time and time again, for years.... If you somehow have a salt build up, it flushes well.... it's the next best thing to rdwc... my rdwc plants only do about 20-25% better.... When heat's a problem, it's my number one...

If you're only doing a few 5 gal buckets, an attached screen is easy... A cut down tomato cage makes an excellent screen holder for a 5 gal bucket scrog... To recirculate a dwc without using a pump in the reservoir, you'll need to plumb the bucket a little different... A rdwc using a GH...

I gotta line up on the rdwc side... That may be a little unfair because i've never done an ebb&flow.. I do quite well with a waterfarm type system....
