you can put it under as far as the first set of leaves with no worries. Some people say to "bruise" the stalk thats going underground by running something hard along it, but I have never tried that before.

CFL's work fine, but with that many so close together your gonna have serious heat issues (trust me), try enclosing it with glass/wood and sending a fan through it to the outside like a cooltube or a vented hood. You could also try to space them out a little bit more, it seems to help the heat...

You probably dont want to hear this... 1- stop growing in your mom's house 2- learn as much as possible 3- get your own place 4- grow some big ass plants
