They wont see the PLANTS heat no matter what they try, cuz plants dont create their own heat. If the air surrounding them is rapidly changing temp, they may be a few degrees different as they slowly adjust (they contain alot of water which will take abit longer to equal out to their surrounding...

Yeah don't wrap it w aluminum, just use it as a heat shield/barrier against the plastic... And put a fan blowing on it ...(and in another room if possible) Good luck

HOLY SHIT those red ones look like the holy grail of 630nm and 660nm ish spikes, w a pretty wide band from blue through green. I gotta do some research and try to find a bigger SPD graph, but those could replace red suns for cheaper???? edit, damn I was wrong, the chart I found in google...

At first I got the two 4 bulbs for $100 ea. The ebay listing showed them as being used w slight wear. The only sign of any use is subtle dents/marks on the reflector... just windex the reflector when you change the bulbs and they're fine. Ive had no problems at all, and had no prob dropping...

I now have em vegging under the 8 bulb, but up until yesterday they were only under the 4 bulb w 2 6500k's and 1ea Blue Wave & Reef Wave... I didnt get any red suns until yesterday vegged under top fixture only with this blend --> =

And a black body radiator uses tungsten which holds heat very well, opposite for aluminum. We use it in the oven because it dissipates heat quickly. 2 totslly different ideas going on here.

aluminum does not retain heat, take a piece out of a 400deg oven and you can handle it bare handed in a matter of seconds, it will act as barrier also. If the ballast gets to the point it would cause the plastic to ignite, the aluminum will diffuse the heat and spread it out more than straight...

@powerslide 5 acres is alot of land, you should be able to spread em out well enough, and the chances are slim, but remember that will be alot of ground to cover to water/feed etc. But most important, if its on your land it only takes ONE plant to be spotted, then their dog gets to run around...

Ok so a few days ago I commented on a post about how impressed I was with the growth I was seeing, tight internode distance and having super short squatty bushes.... only 5" tall!

I didnt check the link, but if it all works you should light it up and monitor it closely for several hours, maybe more than once. Some plastic is great w heat, some not so much... Some ballasts get super hot, some not so much. a fan on it would help, as would lining the plastic w aluminum...
