I use a pocket knife and cut 3 small triangles out. But I have just jabbed a knife in a few times and gave it a twist. I dont think it matters how you do it just as long as it drains well.

If its the room you sleep in I wouldn't use one. It would be one thing if it were a spare room that you didn't spend much time in but even low levels for extended periods of time can be bad for you. Get one of those ozium time misters or one of those buckets I think that would work better for you.
