If HD still has the 100watt HPS security light for $34.50 then snag it. It puts out 10,000 lumens and will grow dense buds on a single plant. Thats probably cheaper than buying all those CFL's equivalent in lumens. It will be hotter though, but not unmanageable. I can't believe this thread is...

that should be plenty of light for that sized box. At this stage the AG lights should be sufficient. Just a tip with the heat control - make sure you exhaust from the top and draw in air from the bottom. Heat rises.

Do you have the lights close enough? I would not break out the HPS yet until they have some descent growth. They should do great initially with just the AG lights.. Sounds to me like you you may have some minor heat issues but you have worked them out. Give it a few more days and I bet...

Smaller HPS is for small scale growing. All some people need is 100 watt. I started this thread to save those people a little $$$$. Hope it helped. If you are growing on a larger scale then HD is not the place for you to get lights.

wouldn't a 250 HPS work for that space? Kind of a compromise that would probably be more than enough light. You could side light with a few vertically individual T5's if money is not an issue.
