I wouldnt take of the main stem I would just take off one or two of the side branches. And 24 hrs one day 20-4 another 18-6 at last I realy doesnt matter cause the plant need more than a couple of days to notice 12-12. But u can do that to be sure.

For flwering a week be4 harvest just flush with distilled water. If you are flushin nutes from overfertilization- one day complete flush and just water until the plant recovers then feed 1/4 strength
