im no professional by any means or very experienced, but i would say that would put the plant in shock. i know that even when transfering a plant to new soil, your suppose to leave the old soil around the roots to prevent root damage. even doing this can sometimes cause a plant to go into shock...

they use cable boxes over here as well, but ours has always just hooked up directly to the t.v. where the antenna is suppose to go. the provider we had was comcast.
