if you veg and spear, you can get up to (and beyond) two ounces per plant, 8'' centered (stick to stick). 1.5-2 oz per plant is my average. these plants are 2.5-3' tall finished.

there's nothing wrong with using a mh bulb off a hps ballast, other than shorter bulb life. vice versa won't light, as the hps bulb needs the ignitor to light. the ingnitor is the only difference between the two.

use the 400 now, keep it up 20-24 inches, and lower it by the day.

high pressure sodium is warm spectrum, red/yellow. metal halide is blue spectrum, blue/white mercury vapor is extreme blue spectrum, not very ideal for cannabis, or many other plants.
