Yes, I am opposed to topping for just the reason you described...you lose the part of the plant with the most growth potential in order to get 4 smaller ones. But training (or LST or tying down) preserves your main cola while allowing the lower branches to get bigger...and you can get WAY more...

No purple yet, but they are still vegging. In the winter my plants seem to have little problem turning various colors, just only while in flower. My 3 Querkle are from seed, and yet to be sexed. Would be happy with a male though so I can make some seeds.

I've had all shapes/sizes grow into fine plants. As long as it isn't cracked or too dried out you should be fine.

Those holes look like they may be a bit too deep...remember they only need 1/4" below the soil, and 1/4" is VERY shallow.

Here is some Cali Connect Tahoe OG that I'm quite excited about Slurpy your LSD looks nice...I've been growing it for a while now and it is one of my frostiest strains. Very good stuff. And aeviaanah, I highly recommend the GO stuff.
