Put an airstone in your water before u water the plants and leave it in for about a half an hour then water. When i first started i had overwatering problems the airstone put enough oxygen in the water so i didnt have to worry about that.

when i used to grow indoors in a small cabinet i used to always trim the roots and plant it back in the same spot . All my mothers were under a foot tall and very bushy. usually would keep a mother for about 6 months then make a new one.
