seeded bud isn't the end of the world
especially if you have some large plants
pollinating with hemp pollen should not affect the genetics of the plant seeded
it should pump out resin just the same, though different in character from unseeded
interesting local conditions, not the problem we have in the northeast
seeded bud can be very good, you do lose out on quantity though
but with all the hemp around, that sounds like prime stealth, whose going to notice a few more mj plants?
mutant leaves are a good start, but when the bud gets blooming(and smelling) that's where weed sticks out
of course there are low odor strains
but it would definitely be an accomplishment to get a strain that looks nothing like mj
which i think is a large project
someone has started this project, duckfoot is supposed to be a pretty strange leafed strain
i think it's still around, may not be the most popular strain
the calyxes, you can be mislead by the trichs on the leaves, which will often be more ripe looking
your lighting sound quite adequate, but not every grow goes great
some sativa's are not recommended for inside growing
you see back crossing mentioned a lot in the breeding forums, typically a cubing where 3 generations are each back crossed to some parent(s)
selfed plants might accelerate the process, might bring in more recessive traits that are unwelcome
that pretty much covers my limited breeding knowledge...
i think i've seen that it takes about 7 generations to get a reasonably uniform 'strain'
that's off the top of my head, and i'm sure it's open to argument
you don't really see that many true breeding 'strains', most current breeder stuff will not produce identical offspring
identical? no
close to parent - yes, but probably not identical
i've done 2 grows of S1 seeds, some differences
but if you bought the bud, and aren't certain if they were S1's, you may have a free hybrid
i did see a perfect hermie over on ic, very different looking
was the whole plant perfect hermie, or was it spotty?
i have some some perfects like yours, but not everywhere
NY inside grower, used to do outside grows, but the late weather in NY can screw you so badly
curious if any NY'ers have done any autoflower grows this year
i know the genetics vary quite a bit, some good, some not so much
but being able to harvest at the end of august would be sweet
with plant smell, there are 2 kinds - to me anyways
there are odors that 'walk', and odors that don't seem to travel too far
temperature is your first line of defense, a too warm grow can be the smelly grow
smell is more dicey, plants vary a lot
i've had plants(mine are single plant grows) that have very low smell, not really noticeable
some others have a more noticeable smell, but no stinkers yet
some plants will stink you out, luck of the draw
