Are you using Big Bud powder or liquid? If powder, I've noticed that you should check pH about an hour or two after you add it as the hydration lowers pH like mad. Also, the Sensi A & B will lower your pH quite a bit too.

Sure I've dealt with plenty of algae problems ...but he was saying that he thinks the couple minutes worth of light that got in his res. changed his pH. I can't imagine that much algae would grow during the day to bump the pH to 8.5.

For 4 weeks into veg. that looks like a pretty healthy plant. If anything your plant looks hungry. Droopy with very early sign of nutrient deficiencies.
