In soil roots are very dependant of oxygen, if soil is saturated with water most oxygen is pushed out. As far as I know, smart pots keeping the soil always saturated with water. But choice is yours mate:)

Don't worry about it, pH of run-off and pH in soil is two different things. Soil I am using has run-off ph of 4.9 from start till the end. If you start messing with the pH by flushing or adding stuff like dolomite lime etc your plants will die.

Hello ozzy, always have your pH at 5.8, and don't worry about run-off is slightly higher, it will stabilise itself. Mix all your additives and main NPK nutrients in the same solution. Your plants are doing really well, so well done mate. Just follow your schedule and let them do their thing.

It's not a good idea to mix soil and hydro medium and use soil designed nutrients the hydro way. You could add about 20% perlite to soil for better drainage! Plants in hydro like moisture, in soil they like to stay dry, same for difference in pH. You might have quite a bit of problems with this...
