    LED hps....

Dude. Same light ouput. Its not a conversion or equivalency. Same. Output.

    LED hps....

This completely misses the point. We want light not watts. You can put down the same ppfd with 600 or so watts of QBs as you get from a 1000w hps. So even IF there is no watt for watt difference in heat you still end up with less heat to achieve optimal light levels at your canopy.

What is a good light for a 4x4x6.5 grow space?

Thats weird. My temps were almost too low with my QB. I had to dial the speed back on my extraction fan to keep temps where i wanted them.

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

That light righr there, and the claims the manufacturer is making are the reason that a lot of growers distrust and dislike LED grow lights. Absolute junk being marketed like a miracle. The very best LED on the planet still need 600+ actual watts to get close to the performance of a 1000w hps.

What is a good light for a 4x4x6.5 grow space?

I would be remiss if i did not mention that HPS really is a great option for a 1st time grower. Its a proven tech and it's cheaper than LED so it would allow you to see how you like growing before throwing a bunch of money at it. That being said, I'd never go back to it now that i have seen...

What is a good light for a 4x4x6.5 grow space?

I mentioned the HLG 550 mainly because its a plug and play solution. If you are even remotely handy you could look into the HLG 600 that @Lordhooha mentioned. Its a kit that requires a small amoint of assembly but it will save you some money over the 550. Either one will take you seed to...

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

I'd be curious as to the actual numbers. Totally agree that the heatsinks will disperse better than the case the driver is in. @Stephenj37826 Have you guys ever run any tests to find out how much heat the drivers put out versus how much the heatsinks put out?

I'd love to run a flower room with a mix of chm and QBs.

What is a good light for a 4x4x6.5 grow space?

An HLG 550 would do serious work in that space.

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

For sure there was some heat coming off the heatsink, but removing the driver from the top of the heatsink and mounting it externally definitely helped. It was only a couple degrees, but when I'm dialing in a space i like to have as much control over my environment as humanly possible.

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

I just ran a HLG QB seed to harvest. I can tell you this without question, running the light wide open i could touch a diode 6 hours after lights and not worry about it. The driver, on the other hand, got hot enough to cause discomfort. When i moved the driver from the top of the slate to...

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

I have had a lot less issues with heat since i switched to Quantum Board LED. If you wire your drivers up so they are outside of your grow space you can really reduce the amount of heat you need to vent because they dont produce infrared radiation the way HPS do. A lot of the heat that QB...

Different effects between LED, HPS, CFL, CMH, COBS and Metal halide

All can be great options. Here is a question, how was heat management in your space with the HPS? Where you having to work to get your temps down? Where they just right? If your temps were perfect with HPS you may find them a bit below optimal with QB style LED. If you struggled to keep them...

    LED hps....

The main difference in terms of heat generated per watt is where the heat is generated. A portion will always be radiating from the ballast/driver whixh can be removed from your grow space. The rest of the difference is in the amount of IR they emit. IR raises surface temperature when...

    LED hps....

Only if you can accurately measure and control all the variables that exist in any real world thermodynamic system. I sincerely hope you're not going to stick a thermometer in a grow tent and call it science. Too many people have already done that and its probably part of the reason this...
