A 1x1 is a super weak scrog. I personally have filled a 3x3 ft tent with one plant many times in scrog

I have a 135w 288 QB from HLG that is absolutely crushing a 2x2 grow space. I think people who say a low watt grow isn't worth it just are not familiar with the efficiency of current gen LED. Hell, an HLG 550 pulls just over 500 watts from the wall and puts out higher ppfd than a 1000w HPS.

You and me both. I honestly think its partly that people are unwilling to break with what they see as gospel, partly a misunderstanding of what we mean when we say flush.

Scrog is all about maximizing the output of each plant. It is very often done to compensate for strict limits on plant count. That being said, you could definitely run, for example, 2 or 3 plants in a 3x3 ft scrog rather than 1. But too much beyond that and you aren't really even scogging...

Ppfd is a useful indicator. But essentially, you want to look at the efficiency rating of the diodes used, the efficiency of the driver, and spectrum. The less energy that you waste on heat and unusable spectrums the less total power you need to produce the desired ppfd
