using the desk lamp would be fine, thats what i used for a while until i had a clamp light, but you definitely need more wattage to grow with.

yeah cfls are great for good light with low cost. im using cfls for my grow and my bill has hardly even gone up, possibly not at all.

yeah when using cfls you want as much light as possible. make sure your lights are as close to the plant as they can be without burning it. do the hand test to see if you have them close enough(place your hand between the plant and the bulb, and if its too hot for your hand then its too hot for...

i passed a test by just working out a bunch, drinking plenty of water, eating many tiny meals throughout the day that are low in fat(this keeps your metabolism pumping all day long), and going to a sauna to sweat out all of the chemicals. hope it works for you.

i agree with grizzly. 4000K is sorta right in the middle of the color spectrum. i dont know why a horticulture company would do that. its neither a veg bulb or a flower bulb, strange. good luck.

i agree with alwin as well. the more light the better, just keep heat down with a fan.

yeah i would keep them under the mh bulb for a little bit longer and then maybe switch to the other bulb. what is the kelvin rating for the new bulb you just got?

agreed. im growing one plant now(my first grow too) and all ive been using is a bunch of cfls. one 150 watt hps light would be plenty of light for one plant, just remember to keep some distance away from the plant with the light because that powerful of a light will cause burning if too close...

will do. i only have two 47 watt 2700K bulbs, which are in the red spectrum so that would be better for flowering. i have two 27 watt 6500K bulbs up also which are in the blue spectrum which is better for vegging. im going to get some more 2700K bulbs soon, i just dont have any money on me right...

so i started the 12-12 cycle just now. im hoping for the best. since im just using clamp lights with y splitters, my 47 watt(2700K) cfl is making the whole y splitter droop down cause it is so much bigger than the other bulbs, and im afraid its going to fall. anything i could do to stop that...

thanks for all of the info and help. i gave rep to all that i could. im going to switch to 12/12 tomorrow, and im also going to switch the lights to the 47 watt 2700K cfls i have. where could i get those Fox Farm nutes? lowes?
