    Hps ballast question

Oh I know.. It's ghetto AF. I just finished learning about and quoting an eb strip build. But they're back ordered by a month at least Budget is next to 0 this year, time is pressing

    Hps ballast question

I was handed a home made light setup. I know it's bad news, but work with me here, it's free and for a mother plant in an area I'm not worried about burning down. That said, it's a medium base 50w ballast for an hps bulb. It works with the 50w hps bulb that came in it. I'm dumb and naieve to...

Extremely high CO2 readings in my tent

Soil capping is a process that can happen to houses built on old farm sites, where damp weather causes the soil to expand and releases gases, including natural amounts of CO2 into the home. Malfunctioning air conditioning systems can also lead to elevated CO2 levels. The combustion of fossil...

Heat sinking EB strips at 1.2amps

I'm still a novice when it comes to electric circuits. I'm reading that the efficiency goes up when you're running a higher voltage and lower amperage circuit, also the A-type potentiometer for parallel circuits is inefficient compared to a DWM controller. Does this translate into...

Heat sinking EB strips at 1.2amps

Nice, that was very helpful and reassuring. Thank you!

    Light Setup - 4x4 w/ 4 plants, COB LED (Luminus CXM-32)

Hmm.. Ya it says it draws 1.4A and 115v at the wall which is 161W then factor in efficiency x0.9 and you get ~145W left. Well it's nice to know I've got the overdrive potential to reach 1.2a if I add some aluminum fins or put in fans. I guess I'll wire in some digital readouts so that I'm never...

Heat sinking EB strips at 1.2amps

I'm building EB strip lights and I'm making the light fixture/reflector/heatsink all in one, made out of bent aluminum flashing. My question is, has anyone run these strips at or higher than 1.2A and if so, do you have a photo or info on how much heat sinking you used and what your temps are? I...

    Light Setup - 4x4 w/ 4 plants, COB LED (Luminus CXM-32)

Thanks for the heads up though, I'm definitely going to be doing the assembly and testing with a voltmeter.

    Light Setup - 4x4 w/ 4 plants, COB LED (Luminus CXM-32)

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're talking about the hlg-120h-c1050 series. All the controlled current models that are below 1A output have wattages that are elevated. My main reason to only go with 120w per fixture, in a 2'x2' configuration, is that will give the par I...

    Light Setup - 4x4 w/ 4 plants, COB LED (Luminus CXM-32)

Thank you for the reply! I've decided to go with 6 of the Bridgelux 560mm(22")3500k strips and an HLG-120h-20A, per 120w grouping of strips. The web tool said go with the HLG-150h-24A, can anyone justify that to me over the hlg-120h-20A? I only want 1amp and 20w per strip and I read that...

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

In the photo below I've positioned the fireplace to show how it will sit when it's welded inside the water tank. The tank will be on its end and have firewood fed from the front And here's some action shots.

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

I stuck three propane tanks end to end for a bigger burn chamber. There wasn't enough heat with the original sized stove. This one will go horizontally and be fed from the front as opposed to the top The new setup will be less like a snorkel and more like an oversized water jacket or hot water...

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

Ya, I've been considering an external solar water heater. The data I read from a Manitoba study showed that they weren't really able to make it through a cold night (-20c) with just passive solar and no fancy evacuated solar tube collectors ($$) , just steel barrels full of water. So, instead I...

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

I'm currently changing my water tank. Heating from the top was a silly idea. A new mig welder showed up this Christmas so I can easily weld the new fire chamber now.

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

My current predicament is finding my damn infrared temperature gun so I can start learning how much I need to heat the tank in order to make it through a night. That and because my fire is heating from the top of the tank, the water isn't really convecting around very much. I'm getting a warm...

The real "300$" walipini (pit greenhouse)

I put it on the side instead of the back wall because I felt more comfortable with the 1600 pounds (or so) of water being upright instead of leaning on the back wall. I also felt like it might get all of its sun blocked by big pot plants if it were on the back wall.
