    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

I would be a little hesitant to have a third party lab be your QAP. I say this mainly because the QA person has to write the QA report that includes a lot of details that would be difficult to know unless you were intimately involved. I guess if you were to go this route you would have to...

We wont be able to work out the prices until we are up and running, but the reality is that these tests are expensive in nature. However, I assume that once the new system is in place there will be several groups offering these services and the pricing will need to be competitive. The $2000...

You are correct regarding the sources of contamination, but the way the Pharmacopoeias are worded it looks like it needs to be tested for each batch. I guess this would be up to the QA person to decide, but that is how it reads to me. You may use the same brand of fertilizer every time, but...

As I mentioned, these tests are pretty standard for all herbal medicine sold in Canada, so the requirements are not that unusual. Unlike tomatoes and such, this product (and most herbals) needs to be dried and processed; if done improperly you can indeed have microbial growth. Some microbes...

It would be a few hundred for the cannabanoids, but you also need to test for various microbes, aflatoxins, and heavy metals. Given that all tests need to be conducted in triplicate (or more), $2000 would be reasonable and I wouldn't expect to see much lower. That being said $2000 per batch...

Do they have controlled substance licenses? HC requires this info, so if not they are out. The labs I contacted were not able to do it. We plan to setup a lab, and think that it can be done for around 200k if you are resourceful.

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

Distance and weather would not effect the chemical or microbial analyses. The distance would be no major problem for the tissue cultured plants, but the weather would present some issues. That being said, the problems are not insurmountable but need to be considered.

I dont know why you would assume that. You could be right, but there really is no way to know. I personally suspect that they have left it so vague for two reasons; a) so that they can accept reject at their discretion making it difficult to appeal, and b) so that people are less likely/able...

Also foudn this: "This means that the Quality Assurance person must have the ability to evaluate the operations of the LP to ensure compliance with Division 4, and the technical knowledge to be able to assess analytical testing results in order to be able to make the determination of whether...

I dont know where you read that; this is what they have to say: "This employee must have the training, experience and technical knowledge related to the proposed licensed activities and the requirements of the MMPR. The applicant must submit a document signed and dated by the quality...

Regarding the Co-op idea, we have been discussing the very same thing for a while. I think that it would be valuable to look to various growers' associations to see how they have organized. They are critical in lobbying the government and they are the driving force that leads to university...

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

The test for the microbial contaminants listed in the European Pharmacopoeia is a pretty standard series of tests where you grind a known amount of tissue, prepare a series of diutions, and plate them out on a variety of selective media. In order to do this you would need a basic microbiology...

    MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

No offense, but you should get a second opinion. You can not do all of those tests with a GC, you will need a much more comprehensive lab with several (expensive) pieces of equipment. You would need a microbiology lab for the fungi, etc, an ICP-OES for heavy metals, an HPLC or GC for...
