Anyone know what's going on here?

Diana I got my temps over 60 deg on the floor for the first time I think ever. Was holding steady in the room about 78 all this time I just didn't realise how cold it was on the floor. I think I am gonna put a layer of insulation under my catch pan this week and see if that helps. Of course it...

Are output watts of bulbs directly related to heat they put out. ie. 1 watt = 3.413 btuh?

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks Diana I looked at your thread and I agree, it probably is the same problem. I haven't been able to get it over 57 on the floor still. I think the only option for me is to add lights, as I don't have room for a heater in my closet. I have 8 26 watt cfl's in there. Is there anyway of...

Anyone know what's going on here?

Here are some more pics. Also some of the closet I am using. It's kinda odd pic number two and number three are out of the same pot. I am gonna get rid of one if it's male later. I did discover that I was pulling cold air from under the bath tub on one side so yesterday I stuffed some insulation...

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks for your input guys. I think you maybe right. I haven't watered in several days and I think yesterday when I watered I actually heard one of them say ahh. As always I used room temp water that was adjusted to a ph of between 6.5 and 6.8. I got them off the floor yesterday but the temp at...

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks grow plenty. I wired up my exhaust fan this morning to try to pull more heat from the house through the closet. I will see in a little while if it makes much difference. I will do something to get them up higher and off the floor. Would adding some more lights help. All I have are some 43...

Anyone know what's going on here?

i just tested my water again. I should mention also that I have a water softener. Tap water is 7.4 ph and 224 ppm. RO water is 7.8 ph and 32 ppm. I am kinda of the opinion it is overwatering. Lights are about 2" above plants. My room is about 68 degrees, but on the floor it is about 60. If I put...

    relays/contactors

Good point smivvie. I have not ever check to see what kind of start up amps one of these lights pulls. Most electric motors and such do pull higher amps on start up.
  17. friguy

    relays/contactors

The relay or contactor is only necessary if the amp load of the circuit is to great for the control. ie. You can't turn on an electric hot water tank with a light switch. The switch is rated for 15 amp and one hot water heater element will pull aprox. 20 amp. If the ballast is 400 watt input it...

    relays/contactors

It can be but I do the shit for a living so if you need more help let me know. Like smokey said though as long as your light is 120 volt just plug it into your timer and you are good to go.
  19. friguy

    relays/contactors

Well your timer is probably gonna be 110 volt, if your ballast is 120 volt also you can just plug the light into the timer. However if your ballast is 240 volt or higher you should in fact control it with a relay or contactor. You need to also make sure that the amp draw of you ballast is not...

    relays/contactors

I might be able to help, but I need a little more information. What voltage is your ballast for one? What voltage do you have available? How are you planning on controlling your light? ie: timer, switch etc.
