U can pick one up at ur local walmart, or hydro shop.U can get them with a moisture meter too, makes to easy to figure out how fast ur soil drys out. Were u leting your soil get completly dry before watering?

Never mind about PPM then, u should really get a ph tester though, could be ur problem might be locked out or sumthin.
