Everclear is strong enough to strip paint off a brick wall! ;) I'm sure it would work but I wouldn't waste it unless it speeds up the process. I'm guessing that's maybe the reason? everclear evaporates quicker thus eliminating a lot of the waiting game.

Depending if you grind those bitches to a powder form or leave them pretty whole, you can let them steep for atleast a good hour. I would go closer to 2 if you have the time. Just remember not to let it boil.
