yes it is and you do it while you veg. you can grow it as long at 90 degreees to the plant as you want long as you have a container big enough to support the roots.when you decide to flower you quit tying it down and the end which is the top will start growing up as will all the other nodes...

u should be cultivating each bud seperatley as they don't all mature at the same normally
