    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

I got it working . The power cord connector was screwed up which was the problem . Thanks all for the advice, I did verify that the driver is running at the correct voltage. and @hicpic as someone who also has little to no electric AND diy experience I give you the green light that...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

So if I want to check the current at the first connection in the series do I disconnect the wire to the following cobs on both the positive and negative sides of the series so that I can touch the probe to those wires? I don't understand where to touch the probes to when I want to measure a cob...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Ok thanks, I'm hoping that's the problem. Never built anything with wires before so I didn't know if that would fuck it up or not. I have a multimeter, is that what you mean by DMM? edit: I cleaned up all the exposed wire and still nothing. any tips on how to use the multimeter to check for...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Thanks for checking it out. That's the way @Greengenes707 connected the dc side on his tutorial vid so I'm pretty sure it should work, as long as it's connected properly...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Hey @Growmau5 (or anybody else that has any input) can you help me figure out why my light won't turn on? I have (6) cxb3590 and an HLG-240-C1050a and as far as I can tell everything is connected correctly. I triple and quadruple checked the +/- alternation and each connection point. Here is a...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

@hicpic I have most of the parts and plan on building it this coming week if all goes well. growmau5 and greengenes' youtube vids are my main resource right now for learning how to build this, so check that out if you haven't. No optics yet for the cobs but I probably will eventually when I...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

I am building this exact light. According to the diy cob calculator done by @bggrass this light will produce 88 heat watts which requires about 1500 in^2 or 31" of 5.375" profile to cool passively. I believe supra recommended using the 5.88" profile rather than the 5.375", though I'm not sure. I...

I am running 6 a51 w90's right now as I wasn't ready to build my own lights a few months ago and am really happy with the quality of growth I am getting and the product...

if youre trying to find something for the longer term and you need to spread the light over a space of more than 6-8 square feet, I'd say the go green is a better option because its softer driven, more efficient and has more cobs to spread the coverage out a bit. But, I like the w90's for myself...

    CXB3590 1500W

I would go with three of those builds for a 4x4, that sounds perfect. That is the exact setup that I want for my 4x4, should be great spacing and intensity and efficiency obviously. 21 PAR W/ft^2 and 3/4 of a cob per square foot. But thankfully 400w will do ok too so if you need to save up for...

the 5k is slightly more efficient (less than 1%) than the 4k which is slightly more efficient than the 3k but the differences shouldn't be large enough to determine what spectrum you get. Go with 5k if its gonna be for a veg room only, 4k or 3k for both veg and flower.
