    DWC/Bubbleponics root problems(?)

Cont. More bubbling from #2: I've made the next two to show how the air bubbling affects the roots, if that's in any way important: And here's both plants incl. light height: Yeah, I'm using hydroton. I really thoroughly rinsed them beforehand but I guess there were still particles...

    DWC/Bubbleponics root problems(?)

Hey dudes, thanks for answering. As you wished, here are a lot more pictures: Plant #2, the drooping one. The yellowing and crispy edges were soft and dark greenish/greyish before #1, the not so bushy one. Almost the same leaf symptoms as the other plant, not really that much drooping...

    DWC/Bubbleponics root problems(?)

Hey guys. Sorry if this is going to be a wall of text for some of you but the harder I try to shorten what I write, the longer it gets, so bear with me here please. I'm gonna set a TL;DR at the end. A few weeks ago I made a thread asking about the quality of my water and if it would be...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Yeah, I'll have to see if at some point my pH will go down instead of up. Let's hope not! I described the pH process of my water in the post above if you want to read that. As for the smell. Yeah, it is kinda like a rubbery smell. Not exactly scorched tire, but tire nevertheless. I guess you're...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Well, they say better late than never, amirite? Thanks for the information on the carbonates, that was indeed very helpful and now I understand the pH climb after changing the water. Seeing that my tap water is almost "medium" and according to the tap water analysis, it has more than average...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

So it should only rise (substantially if you just changed your water) and then not drop at all or just drop by minimal amounts (fluctuate) ? I've just readjusted the pH from 6.2 to about 5.9. I'll test again tomorrow when the lights go on. By the way, how long will the "industrial" smell of the...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Sorry, I have been somewhat inactive here. Was caught up in setting up everything. I've planted my seedlings in the rockwool yesterday. Now the waiting time begins. Well, there's no nice way of saying this, but the information you wrote there was already well known to me. My meter reads PPM and...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Good to hear that it appears to be fine, but I'll prob start with 1/4 CalMag, too, and only if deficiencies occur. Somewhere in this thread I wrote that I tested my water. It has about 180-190 ppm at about 20°C, but what exactly are those scales you speak of? Never heard of it before...

I see. If I researched correctly, another district of the city I live in is treated with sodium hydroxide more often than the other ones. Even with a lower pH than mine, it still contains more sodium. What you stated is probably the reason for that, since it's written that the water in the...

Thx buddy. I hope I will. I'll post a link to the grow journal here once I get everything going.

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

I guess due to the involved costs I'll just go with plain tap water for now until I can upgrade or add to my equipment. I live in an averagely big city (population >500k) and the water here is just treated groundwater that has its iron and manganese content removed in the process (traces left)...

Thanks, mate. Checking it out right now.

What exactly is this "buffering"? My tap water has a pH of about 7,9, but I don't have conclusive data if it does those big jumps, too. Should prob do such a measurement right now and leave a bucket of ~20°C water out for the night and measure in 12 hour cycles or something...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

That sounds very good indeed. My tap water has about 180-190 ppm. Do you think I should use it as it is? I could wait a few more weeks and get a low priced yet seemingly worthwhile RO installation. My plan with that would be to dilute it with my tap water in a 50/50 ratio, which would net me...

I see. What abour your tap water? Is it soft? And how many ppm does it have?

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Luckily, my water doesn't have that much sodium (18 mg/l) compared to what I heard from other people. So far, I think this number seems to be "not too high" but would be better off diluting my water down or just using RO. I think I'll get RO equipment and then just dilute my tap water down with...

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Thanks, I have already purchased the Hydroguard a few weeks ago. From the standpoint of experience, what method seems to be easier/more effective: Beneficial bacteria or no bacteria at all? Also, I hope water temperature won't be a problem, but I'll have to see how it goes first. I haven't...

Good idea, mate. Should make it affordable. And I'll look into that cheap osmosis equipment a bit more. Thanks for your help so far. Peace

Local (tap) water quality and its contents for DWC

Yeah, I've found a good (I think) chart for DWC. It recommends low amounts, too, to start off with and see how the plant reacts, and then adjust depending on how it reacts. Good thing I've spent some bucks on getting the Hydroguard from the US, was definitely a major part of the investment. By...

I really appreciate the helpful advice, but I'm not only short on money, but also short on time. Sadly, I don't have the time for different test runs. I'll have to start soon and it needs to be the one that I have planned, sorry. Can't say anything about details, but it is as it is. Well, I've...
