Oh ya have to go with the variation, after smoking the one spcies for a while you'll grow a customed to the stone and it wont affect you as much, where as if you have that bit of variation it doesn't let your body grow a customed to any one species or strain as you vary what your smoking...

Ya you should have no problems with your plants under a 400watt HPS system!

Ya dude that shouldn't be a problem either. The lights should be ok for them if thats what you got that will be ok, just keep the lights as close to plants as possible without causing harm to the plants, this will stop any stretching and your plant wont start to take over your veg area...
