Are you using incandescent or halide light? There is a lot of stretch between the cotyledon leafs and the next set. If using cfl bring it down closer. What kind of soil you using? It doesn't look like bagged potting soil to me.

If you are going to switch to coco, be sure to fill the rez up to the hole, with hydroton, perlite (not the MG) or other non- compressive medium. It's the extra feeding you did that put the nutes over the top. I've never used MG perlite, but it might have worked. Gotta read those labels.

The only reasons to use a small pot to start is to save on nutes or its the conditions you have to grow in, like a small veg box. But with an auto, I'd put it straight into your 2gal and go.
