you should be fine with the hps for seedlngs.. i have plants vegging an for the fuck of it i germinated some bag seed an got ike 6 of em on the ground next to the big mama's lol and they sproutd... i would worry more aboue stretching with the hps an your little box.. hopsfull you plan on doing...

they sell stuff you can spray the 2 i know of are liquid fence an deer off.. i know you can get liquid fence at home depot, they both have very good reviews, maybe give it a whirl... 10-20 bucks worth a try..
