PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

everyone "knows" this, everyone parrots it. Ive only ever growed with 3 x 600w HPS, so i know it too. I want to understand the technology, not pass judgement on it

PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

IF this is true then why are the 3w LEDs considered better than the 1W LEDs that are better again than the smaller again LEDs? Theres a law somewhere that states that the light intensity halves over a distance of X. So at distance of X it is half of what was produced, at 2x its a 1/4 and at 3x...

PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

Fascinating. So all the science points LED, and yet people scream how much they suck. Doesnt add up. I can only put it down to starting with such low lumen output (per LED) means that the light weakens to something useless too quickly (aka no penetration). But if the actual LEDs themselves...

PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

isnt the problem that most grow lights are 1w or 3w LEDs and lack penetration? isnt that a 80w LED and as a outdoor floodlight it should have mass penetration? thats my question. (well that and why people question LEDs if they are twice as electricity effective)

any LED boffins that know much about non-hydro lights

im in australia and i have bought cheap T5 LEDs from them with no worries (cost me $25) and works fine The striplight i bought is a 8w T5 (thats 8w real electricity used) and puts out 550-620 lumens @ 5500-6000k spectrum. They can be gang wired in a line easily with a supplied adaptor...

PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

Ok so the simpleton tries again : LED : 90w : 436 light units : 4.84 light/w HPS : 280w : 700 light units : 2.5 light/w when you look at the amount of money that is involved (either selling or for self) a few hundred dollars isnt that much. As you said : when you consider that you buy a...

any LED boffins that know much about non-hydro lights

I found some LED flood lights that advertise 2 x 80w LEDS. From what i understand the biggest LED currently runs at 3w. It also advertises a 160 w light and has a power draw of 160w unlike most other that state thet are say 450w but really draw 150w (or whatever) Its a flood light which implies...

PAR Quantum Light Meter - LED vs. HPS - Cold start flux output vs. Running

    Im a bit of a simpleton, but from the first post i read : the LED with 120w (90w) produced 436 units of light. the HPS with 250w produced 507 units of light. my basic maths came up with : LED : 120w (90w) : 436 light units : 3.63 light/w (4.84 light/w) HPS : 250w : 507 light units : 2.028...
