So after a week of trial and error (mostly error, lol) my ghetto setup has graduated a little bit. Really diggin' the CFLs for lighting.

I'm still a total noob at growing, but I think this has grown up to look pretty nice. I'm going to be emulating this basic CFL grow set up once I can get out and buy the sockets and bulbs.

Roughly, how much did the lighting setup run you? The bulbs and the sockets, particularly. Also, did you notice a spike in your electric bill when you started using it?

Here's my first grow, with an all to obvious 'ghetto' set up. The light fixture is on a slender rope attached to the bar in the closet, I can raise it and lower it as necessary!
