You will get better veg growth with metal halide and better flowering growth with high pressure sodium It is best to switch out bulbs but is definitely not necessary You will still get great growth with HPS during veg

How many plants? I wouldn't do more than one... than again I just wouldn't grow with that little amount of light, the harvest won't be worth your effort
