Could really use some help...max efficacy 65PPF/SQft in an 8x8, please?

@mono808 Ah I get ya. You had it backwards. Parallel can give thermal runaway. Series will just make them much harder to adjust. If instead, you get a single driver per board / set of boards you can adjust them together and it is no longer an issue. Running at low current would work easy...

LED Recommendation for 4x4 (Good for whole cycle)

Oh hell yeah man! Mine of course are static at the top of the tent. I dim them to 65% to get the coverage I need. Always overbuild then dim down :)

    Blumat system advice?

I would get the blumat drippers, but you can 3d print the stakes if you have one. Even paying someone to do it and ship would be cheaper.

    Blumat system advice?

I've tried laying them on the soil but worms get inside and die. You've never had that issue? I'm doing something wrong... or right? :D

    Mohican's 2020 Season

Gonna sound weird. Why not buy some neodymiums and glue them into the wood at bottom, middle, and top? Stick a handle on there and thats a sexy door! Just an idea I've been wanting to try myself. Finally found a guinea pig ;)

For those that have done strips DIY need advice on driver selection...

Yeah way to low. shoot for at least 30w per sqft if your going to move the leds with the plants. higher if static at top of tent. You're at 18w per sqft right now. Nice job on the research! :)

Great to hear your experience with failed strips, what was the before and after current? That could have been what saved your LEDs. Definitely could have hurt the life, but luckily nothing bad happened. Eh my argument is to be aware of electrical shock and avoid it. A lot of the arguments I...

Interesting paper of voltage classifications: https://www.generac.com/Industrial/getmedia/808407b3-dca4-45ae-adc2-cc22ed9bde74/Generac-Industrial-Power_Whitepaper_Medium-Voltage-On-Site-Generation.aspx 0-49 is low voltage classification covered by 250.20(A). Whatever that means lol

They are all great points. Just for reference here is a link to the document: https://www.bridgelux.com/sites/default/files/resource_media/ENEC-02768_EB Series.pdf I agree with you they are labeled that way for CE/FCC. They want the strips listed as a low voltage 48V device for consumer use. If...

Want to build a budget LED/COB for my 4x4

Actually for fun. Lets do both and see where it takes us. Ok we have step 1 and 2 covered. Step 1: LED: Eb Gen 3 strip From the datasheet here: https://www.bridgelux.com/sites/default/files/resource_media/DS132%20Bridgelux%20EB%20Series%20Gen3%20Data%20Sheet%2020190617%20Rev%20A.pdf Forward...

Could really use some help...max efficacy 65PPF/SQft in an 8x8, please?

I'll try to answer :) 1) I tried the whole cobs per sqft back in the day. I ran each at 60w and would raise or lower individual cobs over plants. Dude it was such a pain in the ass. Not recommended. 2) QB boards are cool. I think they are recommended here by some. I'll let them chime in...

    Blumat system advice?

Oh, and maintaining a cover crop was never a big deal for me. Just push the blumats real deep into the soil so only the green top portion is showing.

    Blumat system advice?

I wish I had a more informed opinion about it so we could have a lively discussion. The main problem I see is the ceramic being too close to the edge of the pot so it could cause the blumat to water more than you would like. Of course, you should be able to dial back the blumat. sounds fun man I...

I think it could work if it is deep enough. I totally forgot about that option lol. You'll have to try and let us know how it goes!

I want to see more grows with the Australian high lights! Get those. If you want to go diy: 48 eb gen3 3000k or 3500k on 4 hlg-240-1050b drivers.

    Blumat system advice?

Two situations, plastic and fabric pots. Fabric - I would always run at least 2 carrots if they fit in the pot. Better moisture sensing so the soil is evenly watered. Smallest I've run blumats was 35 gallons and I used 4 small carrots. Plastic - 1 carrot should be fine. 0 evaporation from the...

@tilopa @loco41 I want to recommend studying up on series vs parallel wiring then specifically series vs parallel wiring of LEDs. It is much better to understand what is going on when you are going DIY. Plus, if you decide to upgrade you can rework your lights. Follow these steps 1)...
