It depends on the strain. If it's purple then you are probably fine. Red can be an indication of a def, but it's also variable. Some strains exhibit unusual coloring. I have a strain running that has deep purple stems and stalks.

Yeah, you are converting @ .5 whereas most use .7. So, at .5, 900-1100 PPM is actually 1260-1540 @.7, which is most likely what the conversion factor they are using is. On the bottom of your containers where there are holes for drainage: what does this area look like? See any residue or...

Leaves falling off and dying from the bottom is typically a sign of a deficiency. To be honest though, I don't see how you are getting one with what you are using. Does your ppm meter use a .5 or a .7 conversion? If you're not sure, research the model and let me know.
