DWC reservoir size for recirculating system?

I'm going to have a reservoir of about 5gal for the fresh incoming water to go into, then it will distribute water to the veg and flower setups. I can ph that water if it becomes needed. My tap water is 30 ppm and about 7ph, after adding nutes it ends up at 6.5-7.0 so hopefully ph will stay...

    Cool my reservoir!!

Buying an ice chest may be easier, but sounds like that plan would work. Insulation only slows heat transfer though, so you would need a source of cold at some point to make this worth it. Cold can be a part of the system that is in another room/space or it can be lower temps at lights out...

DWC reservoir size for recirculating system?

-6 buckets at 5 gallon each -1 bucket for a control bucket Water will auto top off and my water comes in at about 7 ph and 30ppm. Do i need to add another larger reservoir to the system? Or should I leave it as is with just the 5 gal extra reservoir. I check PH daily. Is there any benefit to a...

New Room Design Questions W/ Pics

You will likely need to insulate the walls so they do not collect condensation. Does any water leak in when it rains? You may also want to waterproof the walls. You may need a dehumidifier as well. My basement stays at about 60f even when it's 90f outside, but it also stays at 70% humidity.

bubble cloner stems soft and mushy, are they done for?

Some of the clones in my bubble cloner have soft and mushy stems. The tops look somewhat ok. Will they grow roots or is it time to pull them? Thanks.

    Looking to save elctricity

120 and 240 will cost the same to run. In the united states and in residential housing and small commercial you are billed by watt hours, not by amps. Here are some links with further explanations. http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/static/articles/1006_eltrc.asp...

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

I'm talking backup for as long as possible. I do lose power several times a year for between 1-2 days. Also a yellowtop optima or equivalent should be fine right? I want automatic power for pumps and small lights for as long as possible. Besides $2-$3k on a standby generator batteries is the...

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

Also does anyone know if a normal 120v plugin timer like we all use will work on a modified sine wave inverter? I can't seem to find the answer to that.

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

Most likely what I will end up doing. A sealed car battery, a charger, and an inverter setup so that when power is available the battery is charged. When power goes out a relay would disconnect the charger and connect the inverter which would be connected to a small air pump (i do dwc 18 buckets...

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

Are there any small cheap auto transfer generators around? Either gas or preferably natural gas. The smallest I seem to find is 8k watt and cost around $2000.

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

Solar can be used to charge a battery system as well. Depending on how much sun you get it could take quite a large panel. I'm also trying to figure out how to use LEDs instead of the CFLs for an even longer run time.

Power outages and how to keep the lights on

I'm to the point of actually trying to set something up now, thought I would try again for some more ideas on what people use. A $3000 generator is not possible for me right now. I just need enough to keep the light schedule on track until power restarts, or i get home and can connect a...

Stealth 6 strain 600 watt DWC vertical grow room

Built a box around the inline fan and moved it out of the room and under the house, much quieter and I now have more vertical space. The box is just plywood stuffed with styrofoam and fiberglass insulation, made it 2x as quiet. Should have the room done in the next week.

    DWC in 4x4x6.5 ?

My flower room is 3x4x7. I have six 5 gallon recirculating buckets, the reservoir is outside of the room. A 600 watt is hung vertically. Since I don't have much flat space, but I do have vertical space. You definitely want them to share water space either through drain lines or as one large...

    exhaust air dumping

The airflow will either push the water heater exhaust back out into the basement, or it will make it draft too fast and mess with the flame. There's a small chance it will work, but it shouldn't work. Try it and use a carbon monoxide detector, and pay attention to what the flame on the water...

Stealth 6 strain 600 watt DWC vertical grow room

I could but then alot of light would be lost out the top, until the plants could reach above it. By going vertically in the center almost all of the light is used. There will be a wire cage around the bulb to keep the plants back a few inches. I've never grown vertically before, but it seems...

Stealth 6 strain 600 watt DWC vertical grow room

I may redo my venting. Currently it pulls air for the light from inside the house and dumps under the house using its own fan. I may connect it to my bigger room vent fan and just leave the bottom of the cooltube open, getting rid of the extra fan and duct. The original plan was to use the light...
