The 135 kit will easily run at near 160 watts if you crank up the "IoADJ" with a small phillips screwdriver. Leave the "VoADJ" alone, it will be set at 54v. I have 2 135`s in a 2x4, currently in veg at 135w each, but will crank them up when the lumps get sticky.

My 2 135`s drawing 135w each from the wall are currently 23C higher than tent temp after 7 hours on. Measured near center between the fins using cheap ir thermometer. No direct air flow over lights. I do have some 120mm PC case ball bearing USB fans if summer ever arrives. Snowing nearby yesterday.

What makes you think the HLG550 is lower quality. Is it the the precision machined slab of aluminium for optimal heat transfer.
