    First Ever for GardensGrow

The upside down one had grown the taproot all the way to the top of the soil and had just started to curve back down once it "realized" that it was going towards the light. I'm not sure the seed would have been able to provide enough energy for the taproot to reach back down into the peat and...

    My 1st Indoor Grow - 3 strains - 6 plants

Hmm I read in the Grow Bible that you can pre-flower in the veg stage... maybe that occurs a bit of time into the veg stage and not practical for a "closet" grow Keeping a veg room would be awesome and would help keep the constant supply that you're looking for. I'd almost call it a necessity...

Raul you were right on. On of my seeds was trying to sprout upside down and the other was too buried to have enough energy to sprout. I flipped the one and loosed up some of the peat on top of the other. Thanks for the advice! Hopefully I'll come out of this with 5 of 5. On a side note...

    My 1st Indoor Grow - 3 strains - 6 plants

They're looking really healthy. I've got my fingers crossed for your three fems. Is it easier for you to sex the plants by starting the flowering cycle as opposed to determining at the pre-flower stage?

Thanks Raul. It is definitely a fine line. I will heed your advice and wait until the end of today for any signs of sprouting. If I don't see anything I'll go in for "seedling surgery" and see what I can do. The 3 that have sprouted so far are really going to town. I'm thinking they might...

So I have 3 seedlings now. The other two aren't showing any signs of life. I was hoping to get at least 4 plants in search of 1 or 2 females. I'm wondering if I should wait a couple more days to see what the other two do or if I should go ahead and plant two more seeds. Any suggestions?

Also there is a free program called Peer Guardian 2 that will block all tracking pings on your address. It shows a list of who was trying to watch your bandwidth and there are a ton!

2 seedlings popped! I'm hoping the other three will follow suit soon.

Haha that SCROG grow picture is awesome! Talk about efficiency... I think you're right though about the males. I'm starting from seed so SCROG is probably the worst thing I could do. Even though my soil will stay in place the whole time I think I might still be able to manage a little...

    My 1st Indoor Grow - 3 strains - 6 plants

I have a similar type of grow going at the moment. I even had similar heat problems that have been mostly resolved. I know that this is your first indoor grow but, from your understanding, starting the flowering cycle when the plants are 12"-18" will make the plant about 3 feet tall in the...

HPS, MH, Floros, Phillips Cermamic Metal Halide has 'em all beat.

Thanks ceestyle. I trust your judgment so I think I'll pick up a CMH to replace my MH conversion once it craps out.

Thanks for the compliments Hawk. I do my absolute best to keep things clean. Things are looking great for you! How long do you think you'll flower? I think I actually like you're double door setup a little better though just for the simple fact that it's discrete. You mentioned that you're...

Final touches are complete. I switched the fan around and removed the filter for now. Temp swings are about 5 degrees up from ambient. Mylar coating on the door and floor. Also I germinated 5 of my 10 seeds! Placed them 1/4" deep into some Jiffy peat pellets with a CFL ready for when the...

HPS, MH, Floros, Phillips Cermamic Metal Halide has 'em all beat.

So the general consensus so far is that CMH is better than MH for veg but it's "undecided" vs. HPS in the flowering stages?

    16k lumens HPS vs. CFL

Kudos on a good experiment with attention to details and possible errors. I think this will come in handy for those doing a cost-benefit ratio of using multiple CFL's over a single HID. While electric cost will be higher with CFL's, yield may make up for that loss due to better spread as shown...

Alright, after running my setup all night I woke up and the ambient temps were about 72-73 outside of the cab and inside of the cab I was running about 78-79. Not too bad, but still a little high for my tastes. I may run the setup without the filter and see what kind of temps I get. Maybe I...

I haven't run it yet. I just got back from another trip this weekend and all last week I was harvesting a different type of crop so that took a lot of my attention. But now that other type of crop is on autopilot so I should have the fan/light up and running by tonight or tomorrow night. I...

Got back from my trip yesterday and started working on my grow op again. I have the SS2 installed with the filter half-attached. One question I hope someone might be able to answer me is this: Are there any cons to bringing in air from the light-fixture-side of the SS2 hood? As you can...

Holy crap! The seeds just arrived today! It took twice as long to send the money than it did to receive the product... A+++ for hempdepot Unfortunately I'll be leaving town the next two weekends so I don't want to germinate until after that. I need to be around every day during the...
