High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Atomizer, question for you. The 280 bypass pump says it does 100psi, but that it has an 80psi bypass. What does that mean? Does it only go up to 80psi and then start to bypass? Does it start bypassing at 80, but keeps building pressure until 100? I'm finding that a little confusing. Thanks!

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

The thing is, I am going to have the two sets of nozzles in separate PVC lines, to avoid the pumps "fighting" each other. So if one pump dies, the other one will (hopefully) still be running, but it will only be driving 15 of the 30 nozzles. I won't have any way of hooking it up to the full set...

No need to jump down my throat, I didn't mean any offense to you with my post.

Ya, I guess I want a homemade software version that doesn't cost $1500USD...

    remote monitoring

Not sure if this should go in Grow Room Design, Indoor Growing, or Advanced Techniques, so feel free to move this if necessary. I am looking for environment monitoring devices that can be hooked up to computer via USB. Things like thermometer (with remote probe, like a long wire thingy)...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Wow, not sure how you found that pump, because it isn't even on Shurflo's website! It's a great pump, but maybe overkill, since I would like to buy two of the and have them both running together to prevent a pump failure from destroying the whole crop. I was thinking of this one, found it for...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

I did forget about the gauge. Does anyone know if they make pressure gauges that can hook up to computer via usb? I google'd for it, couldn't find them, and i'm usually pretty good at finding stuff on google!

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

I can't speak about results from experience, but coming from DWC, I will be building this from scratch, is it really that much more expensive than a low pressure aero / nft? 1. lights, circ fans, exhaust fans would be the same 2. pumps will cost around $300 bucks, that is two pumps, both...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Great news! I just got off the phone with Shurflo Tech Support. The guy told me that the only issue with component wear would be a pressure switch, like in the demand pumps. If you constantly turn these on and off the pressure switch will die on you. A bypass pump should have no trouble...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

The system I am planning is a 30-nozzle system, and I was planning on having every other nozzle run by a different of the two pumps, in other words 2 pumps, each pump handles 15 nozzles, and they're alternating throughout the system. In order to accomplish this, I was going to have two separate...

    We're all fuct now

Yo Al! If you're still around, did you ever sort out the whole PK 13/14 thing with Canna? I'm pretty sure where you left off, before you left, was talking to their tech support about exactly when and how to use it cause you couldn't get it right?

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Damn, another great catch Atomizer. I sent an email to the tech support guy at Shurflo asking him whether there would be any issue with power cycling a bypass pump every few minutes 24 x 7, they're the ones that would have to cover the warranty so I assume if that's not a good idea they will...
  14. Q

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Ok, something just occurred to me. Rather than power cycling the pump every three minutes, couldn't I just put a solenoid between the pump and the nozzles, and open/close the solenoid every three minutes? I mean, it's a bypass pump, right? So let's say it can do 1LPM at 100psi, and my nozzles...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Dammit! Just when I thought I had my design all set, you went and threw an "accumulator tank" monkey wrench in there :p Well, I gotta think about this, it would be a bit of a sacrifice of simplicity, but it certainly would extend the life of the pump substantially. In all likelihood I will just...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

And here's what Devon at KES Irrigation said about the droplet sizes: "Unfortunately we have been trying for years to get information on the droplet size and different operating pressures. The manufacturer does not have this information and has advised it to be very costly and time consuming...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Well I said I would ask about the droplet size, and post the answers here. Here's what FlexPVC said: "> On the dropplet size.. I'm told they have not performed quantitative testing > on droplet size and won't have that data any time soon. I think it's the > same issue. At under 100psi, most...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Nice work with the chillers Earl! I hope one day I can say that I love MY aero machines :) Actually, I originally started this design with 8" PVC, but when I started reading I found all the info about giving the roots lots of free space and high-pressure low-flow aerosol nozzles and I ended up...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

That's the plan, it's called a 200 filter. The nozzles I am planning on using actually can come with individual filters, but I am going to get them without, because I will be using one filter on the entire system. It's an external pump, so no need for a bag filter. Good advice! I was led...

High-pressure (aka "true") aeroponics - nutrient schedule?

Yes, I'm a bit anal that way, and I have learned a TON along this loooong journey! The tech support guy from ShurFlo said "A demand pump shuts off when pressure builds against a closed outlet. The bypass pump needs to be manually shut off." The tech support guy from Cloudtops said "An on...
