u are absolutely right 5 stage replacement cost around 120 so as the new unit that comes with new filters :) (and god forbid if u have 7 stage then u looking at 140-160 in filter replacement ) But the idea of RO is that removes almost everything than adds back minerals and makes water alkaline

well ill do testing , im getting filter tomorrow ,having 10 yr + experience in fish keeping tells me that minerals will go hard on pump and maybe probes but those are fixable issues

not sure what exactly can happened but chlorine and chloramine will kill ur plants the rest renaming if its not used by trees might slow down the growth i guess
