I guess that is possible. But, I imagine slow growth like this is a sign that something is not right. These are hybrids and should act like it. If they continue like this, I don't doubt that they will veg and flower, but the yield will be very disappointing for the amount of effort expended...

I think I will send some of these pictures to the seed company and ask their opinion. I will let you know what they say.

I can only see the top roots if I move some of the hydroton away and they are white and fuzzy. Here are some pictures of them as they near five weeks-

If you want to move your plants easily then I think rock wool is your best option. There really is no need to have hydroton in the ebb/flow if you are using rock wool for the entire grow. In fact, I wouldn't want my roots to grow from the rock wool into the hydroton if I planed on moving them...
