    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

Another note is that the reservoir solution must be aerated. For whatever reason, that stabilizes pH over time. Some nutrient solutions may squeak by without aeration, but it is better safe than sorry. I run two of the big airstones off a double-outlet air pump for a 40 gln. res. Rule of thumb...

    Clone questions?!?!?!

Did you read what I said about drip systems w/slabs? The slabs are, in effect, being continuously watered. That is used primarily in commercial greenhouses for non-cannabis plants....or to grow trees. If you continuously flooded a table, then you would have a DWC type system. I imagine it would...

    Clone questions?!?!?!

Who said anything about flooding tables every hour? Twice per cycle is once at lights on and then, typically, 6 hours later. Sometimes longer. If the rockwool is not sufficiently moist, growth will suffer. When the plants are smaller, you flood once per cycle. I also said that I water clones...

Oil <$60/barrel, time to buy stock

As for equities, now is the time for selling not buying. Consensus says that there will be one last market high, but by the very fact that it is consensus opinion, I am wary of it. Yesterday had the look of a bear market rally, which would mean that the secular bear has already resumed. I...

    Clone questions?!?!?!

Rockwool is purpose-designed to maintain an optimum air/water ratio. Even though it feels heavy when wet, there is plenty of air in there. That being said, it must be able to naturally "drain off". If you don't use a Gro-Smart tray insert, then you must insure that there is no water in the...

    Clone questions?!?!?!

Dude, they are rooting. You will have to really fuck up to kill them at this point. That's not to say that they might still yellow out a bit, but it happens, wait till you get a bunch of roots and transplant. I try to avoid standing water in the tray and use the Grodan Gro-smart insert to keep...

Oil <$60/barrel, time to buy stock

Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to biotechs per se. But the coming bear market is going to be tough. Biotechs which may be excellent investments are going to follow the broad list down. When we do hit bottom, they are definitely going to be one of the top equity investments available.

    Clone questions?!?!?!

That's right. I do cut them at a 45 degree angle to give them a point, but it isn't really necessary. The key to the rockwool is making a new hole with a toothpick. That way, you are guaranteed to have good contact between the rockwool substrate and the stem. Way back when, I was in need of...

    Clone questions?!?!?!

Why are shaking out the water? The whole point of rockwool is that it it can't be overwatered. I don't prefer the wrapped cubes for cloning, but they should work, just might take longer. Next time, skip the goop and stem prep. Use a toothpick to wally out a hole in the cubes, cut the branch, and...

    Foliage Pro vs. Maxigro

One advantage I have found w/ FP is that when mixing up solutions that may sit around for several days in 5 gal. buckets is that it is pH stable over time. Not so the MaxiGrow. This is without aeration. MaxiGrow, if aerated in a reservoir, is fine pH wise.

Oil <$60/barrel, time to buy stock

Just for the fun of it, I tried to find a decent treasury fund offering from Fidelity. They don't have one. They do have a short term treasury scheme called FDLXX and it is for capital preservation only, apparently. Get back to me in 6 months and we'll do a performance comparison of FDLXX vs. FBIOX.

Oil <$60/barrel, time to buy stock

Did he take profits? There is an old saying on Wall Street "It is easy to make money on Wall Street, the hard part is keeping it." I also noted that there would be a rebound in the oil price, and there has been one. It may go further yet. FBIOX - Wow, you are buying the top. Quote as of June...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

I've done it quite few times due to my former employment requirements, with rockwool. Rockwool, due to it's inorganic nature, will not itself alter the pH once established. There will be a little drift due to the organic plant root system, but provided that there are no reservoir contaminant...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

Perhaps the single biggest advantage to the table setup is that you can go out of town for a week - or longer, depending on res size - and everything will be fine when you get back. That was an important consideration for me. The same is likely true for the ebb/flo buckets, but I prefer a...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

Agreed, plant mobility is critical to maximizing production, fixing problems, and sometimes accessing them. I prefer rockwool on ebb/flow tables, but mainly for identical plants. Mixed strains do not work so well in that situation. Next grow will be amended Pro-mix BX in containers as it will...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

Well, I imagine if anybody had any colorblindness at all, that would be a problem. I also always check the color against a "white" light. What you describe is definitely an issue when trying to check the color against HPS lighting. After using the digital pH meter for about a week in rockwool, I...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

As to buffering capabilities, I am not the soil expert that I would like to be. However, it has always been my understanding - from books read years ago - that grow media with organic components has a built-in "buffering" capability. Which means that if the pH is off a bit, that does not...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

General Hydroponics makes a drop-based pH test kit that is highly accurate, easy to use, and has a shelf life which I have yet to discover the limit to. I tried two digital pH meters and frequently had to check them against the simple GH method (and calibrated liquid solutions). The digitals...

    Breaker flipping from 400w ballast

A common problem with trailers is poor connection at the outlet. They typically use the outlets with "wire insertion" installation vs. wrapping the wire around the screw, the latter being more labor intensive. And that is just the beginning of the bad connection issues. Trailer manufacturers are...

    PRO MIX BX WITH MYCORRHIZAE

Less is more, I would agree. Plant dependent, but the nute company recs tend to be over-agressive. Most notably, Hydrofarm radically modified their feeding instructions (to the upside) for MaxiBloom/Grow...but the product itself has not changed. Whether hydro or soil, I typically water/feed in...
