What Kind Of Water Do You Use??

yes, RO filters work on pressure passing pure water through a membrane. What isn't pure is disposed of, and tends to be 25-50% more contaminated than the water going in. Most use 1.5-2 gallons of water to get 1 gallon of pure. When I got my RO/DI unit I ran the figures. Including waste water...

How can u sex a plant?

Gibberellic acid (that is spelled wrong) and colloquial silver both will induce male flowers. There is some other substance as well, but can't think of it off the top of my head. These substances are how they make femanized seeds.

What Kind Of Water Do You Use??

most pet stores that sell marine or soft water fish will sell RO/DI water for $0.20 a gallon. You just get a few 5 gallon drinking water jugs and fill them up once a week. You can also get an RO/DI unit and filter your own water. The units start at around $100 and go up from there (my 150gpd...

    Would this work?

T5's do not produce any more heat than CFL's (watt for watt at least). Most T5's have ballasts built into the hood (not all, but most), and don't be fooled by CFL's, they have ballasts too, they are just built into the bulb :) I guess CFL's are smaller, but honestly, once you get fixtures and...

    Best way to keep moms.

I just chopped up a mom last night, seedling for 2 weeks, veg for 4 weeks, took 12 clones and didn't have to kill the mom to get them (I could have taken another 8 at least if I'd had the second cloner running at the time). It will all depend on your veg conditions (so how fast you can get them...

Closet help! From pateint in Cali who needs help

specifics on your budget are really going to be required to properly answer you. There are so many ways to go, and budgets can range from $20-$20,000 so 'low budget' becomes way too vague. where you are just starting out though, I'd suggest checking like the above posted says into online grow...

How can u sex a plant?

sexing a plant is just waiting for the first signs of flowers to appear and determining if they are male or female. Search for pictures as far as being able to tell male from female, in description the males have balls on stalks, the females have teardrops with white hairs sticking out of them...

I got some seed's .....Have no idea what kind they are?

can you be more specific? Given the info you included the only real advice I would have is to read the info stickied in the newbie and general forums. There are also plenty of books on the subject that can explain the whole thing from soil prep and germ to harvest and cure. My personal...

Started Germ but have couple of questions about light distance and watering

I basically keep my lights as close as I can get them without exceeding ~85f at the tops. The only reason not too is if you have too large an area for your light/reflector and have to pull it back to expose the entire area. The plants themselves can easily take up to 90, and for periods in...

What is a good ph for my plants?

I don't grow in hydro myself, but feel free to ask any questions you might have. Worst case I tell you I don't know :) Take a look at this for charts showing PH lockout. And double check my 5.5 figure. I'm pretty sure that is the target for hydro, but since I don't grow hydro, it's a good...

    Pot Size

Take a look at sea of green methods. The entire method might not suit you, but the idea of growing clones in small pots is viable, the key is minimal veg time :)

    Pot Size

The info here is pretty much what I have found is the best way to go as well. However, when I flip to 12/12 I re-pot at the same time. My setup makes it challenging to have 5 gallon buckets in the veg room however, so I re-pot when I move them to flower. Has anyone played around with...

trying to find the best lighting set up

yeah, if you have separate Mh/HPS fixtures, use both for flowering. You could also use both for veg, but with smaller plants, many people cut veg wattage to conserve juice (I veg under half the wattage I flower under). If they are the same ballast, veg under MH, flower under HPS. If you want...

I need some help planning! SOS

one thing to keep in mind, part of the strategy in sog is to have a bunch of roughly uniform plants. Ideally you would have them all cloned at the same time, and harvest at around the same time. If you are set on having weekly harvests there are a lot of SOG ideas that you can apply, but it'll...

    Indoor Perpetual Closets

cool :) hope you enjoy it :) I end up pretty busy, but hope to give at least a brief update every week or two, and probably a post for harvesting. One thing, we mix genetics a lot, and nothing ever finishes at the same time, so we basically replace every plant we harvest within a day from the...

after curing for a week do i not open it up anymore?

It really depends on how much bud, how much air, how dry your environment, how wet the bud is when it goes in. Better to judge it by the uniformity of the moisture in the bud. Properly cured bud will seem completely dry in almost all regards, the main way you can tell it's not really dry is...

    Automatic watering?

yeah, at this point I might try simulating this indoors this winter. And yeah, I agree on the risk. That's my thing, if I think there's any real risk I won't do it. I have an op that is worth it already. I more was interested because it's a good friend, and I could made the difference...

Want to Know If Your Plants are Finished?

two weeks ago this lady had gone through a lot of plumping, and hit 8 weeks. the trichs were 10% amber and no clear 13 days ago (tuesday), so I figured sometime around the following friday it'd be ready. But 7 days ago it had started getting new bud growth and the trichs went 40% clear, 60%...

    Weird Pre-Flowers check it out...

that second pic is how I commonly see preflowers. They get incredibly plump, and will just stick nearly straight out of the node. Not all strains I have played with do this, but a good many do if I let them veg for any length of time.

    Help please

you really need more close up pics to be able to say, and really, a microscope looking at trichs is the tell all. If I had to guess from those pics I'd say not ready, but just because they strike me as quite small, but that could just as easily be conditions as ripeness.
